Meghan Peasant by SisBoom

A couple weeks ago I made my first Meghan Peasant Dress. Here is a pic of the pattern.

Here is my version in a quilting cotton by Art Gallery. I just love the fabric. It is a perfect casual little summer dress.

 

Here the back view. It is very easy and quick to put together. And the instructions are very well written. 

 

 

For some to me absolutely unexplainable reasons I thought it would be awesome to make this pattern, which is written to be made in quilting cotton, with chiffon. Chiffon!!!! I underlined the bodice front and back with polyester lining. Which I also used as lining for the skirt part. The chiffon, as you can clearly see at the sleeves, is very sheer. I bought the polyester chiffon months ago at Walmart for $1/yard. The dress was a pain in the butt to make in this fabric, but I do really like the end result. I won't bother showing you the really unprofessional seam finishes. Since it's completely polyester I have to spray it with Static Guard, but that stuff really helps.

 The back view. Both fabrics have this shimmer and it gives it a more dressy look, I think.

My second Cambie Dress

Did I mention how much I love this pattern? Well, here is my second Cambie Dress, and I already plan the third one. Which will be version A. For this one I used Velvet Vine in Grape from the Gypsy Caravan collection by Amy Butler. The lining is Ambiance Bemberg in burgundy. 

 In between I had time to whip up this reversible cover for my sewing machine. The construction is very simple, but it really leaves room to bring out the cute prints. Right now my favorite side is the animal print :)

Lisette Market Skirt and Blouse

I finally finished the Lisette Market Skirt.

This project was jinxed from the beginning. I only start to figure out how to use the serger, and I have to say this skirt isn't the best project to make if one doesn't really know how to finish seams with it. In the end it turned out to be very cute, and luckily people will see only the outside. I finished the blouse a while ago, but unfortunately the sleeves are too snug for my arms (too many muscles, haha). I will make the blouse again but a couple inches longer and with wider sleeves.

I really like the Lisette patterns. So far the ones I tried out were really easy to make with clear straightforward instructions. The designs are simple with enough cute details. I made the blouse without the row of buttons down the upper front and I like it better this way. It's so easy with these patterns to change little things like this, at least for beginners like myself. I am looking forward to the next Lisette project. But for now I am occupied with the Prairie Girl dress, and my first try with knits.

Current Projects

Here is a picture from the projects I am working on right now. The Favorite Things Prairie Girl Dress to the left. In the middle the Modkid Kyoko Dress. I already cut out the pattern and one part of the fabric arrived today in the mail. Above that is the Amy Butler Liverpool Tunic with the fabric I chose for it. I still have to prepare the pattern on freezer paper. To the right is the Lisette Continental Dress and parts of the already cut fabric.

And this is what I got so far of the Lisette Continental Dress. I hope to finish it today and maybe wear it tonight when we go out for dinner at the Bistro to listen to our farrier Doug and my piano teacher Mariam play there.
